Removing a Backup Destination

Overview

When a computer is no longer available as a backup destination or if you want to remove all the data backed up to a destination, you can remove a backup destination. Removing a backup destination permanently deletes ALL backup files stored at the destination. Backup files stored at other destinations are not affected.

You can remove a backup destination using your:

  • CrashPlan desktop
  • CrashPlan account online (www.dfwdatavault.com)
    Use this method if you are not able to access your CrashPlan desktop.

How It Works - From the CrashPlan Desktop

  1. Click the Backup tab.
  2. Under Backup Destinations, click on the name of the destination to remove.
  3. Select the name of the destination to remove.
  4. Select Remove Backup Destination.
  5. Read the warning message carefully and confirm that you want to remove the selected destination.
  6. Click Save.

How It Works - From Your CrashPlan Account Online

  1. Log into your account at www.dfwdatavault.com
  2. Click My Account.
  3. Click My Computers.
  4. Under Available Destinations, clear the Use check box next to the destination name.
  5. Click Save.
  6. Read the warning message carefully and confirm that you want to remove the selected destination.
